In April earlier this year, PUMA officially announced the rebooted RS sneaker range, which included a number of collaborations across a few difference silhouettes. One of the partners from the collaborations is a renowned Japanese manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, Roland. PUMA has today announced the drop of the PUMA X Roland collection, including two silhouettes, the RS-0 and RS-100.

Fans got to see a glimpse of the PUMA X Roland RS-0, which draws on inspiration from Roland’s game-changing TR-808 drum machine. The silhouette features a premium black, leather upper, which has micro-perforated vents. The sneaker also sports 6mm flat and reflective laces, which ties in with the reflective midsole details. The signature TR-808 colours – red, orange and yellow – appear on the Formstrip. The inspiration from the TR-808 continues in the form of familiar notes such as “Rhythm Composer” and “Bass Drum”. The orange palette is featured on the translucent rubber outsole. Numerous branding is scattered throughout the silhouette, including midsole, tongue, footbed, as well as the anodised metal hangtag.

To kicks things off, the RS-100 Roland follows the story of reinvention. The silhouette is inspired by the past and shaped by the colourful history of both brands. The RS-0 Roland features a rebooted design of the original R-System silhouette. The RS-100 Roland, however, features a look and feel closely related to the original. The sneaker features a vibrant upper, with a bright orange, suede Formstrip with white reflective edges. The upper features a combination of patterns, colours and materials, and also includes a white-red pebble leather, black ripstop with nylon panels and yellow suede. As with the RS-0 Roland, the silhouette features branding across the sneaker, including the tongue label, footbed and the anodised metal hangtag. This also includes heel printing which reads, “Rhythm Composer TR-808, Computer Composer”.

PUMA continues to push the boundaries by partnering with influential and creative brands and individuals, striving to push culture forward through innovation in design, style, technology, and more. Both silhouettes, the RS-0 and RS-100, from the PUMA X Roland collection are set to drop on 8 August 2018. This date is significant, known internationally as #808DAY, a celebration of the TR-808 drum machine. The RS-100 Roland will be available for R2,599, with the RS-0 Roland for R2,999. Both will be available at PUMA SELECT and Shelflife stores.
