The developer behind the Hitman video game series, IO Interactive has announced Project 007 – a new James Bond game coming to a console and computer screen near you.
The Danish company is collaborating with MGM, Eon Productions and Delphi to create a wholly original Bond story exclusively as a video game. Project 007, which is the game’s working title, is currently in active development for modern systems and platforms. So it’s safe to assume that it will be available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC.
“Featuring a wholly original Bond story, players will step into the shoes of the world’s favourite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status in the very first James Bond origin story,” IO Interactive said in a statement.

Speaking about the new game, CEO of IO Interactive Hakan Abrak said…
“It’s true that once in a while, the stars do align in our industry. Creating an original Bond game is a monumental undertaking and I truly believe that IO Interactive, working closely with our creative partners at EON and MGM, can deliver something extremely special for our players and communities. Our passionate team is excited to unleash their creativity into the iconic James Bond universe and craft the most ambitious game in the history of our studio.”
The James Bond franchise has a long history of video game adaptations, most notably the classic 1997 Golden Eye 007 game for the Nintendo 64.
IO Interactive is also currently working on Hitman 3 which is scheduled for release in January 2021 as a cross-gen title for PC, Switch, PlayStation and Xbox.
