During Sony’s State of Play event for May, developer Illfonic, the team behind the Friday the 13th game, revealed their latest project Predator: Hunting Grounds.
Hunting Grounds, unlike previous predator games, will be an asymmetrical multiplayer game in the same vein as the Friday the 13th game that released recently. The game will see a group of players taking control of members of an elite fireteam armed to the teeth with SMG’s, Sniper Rifles and various other weapons. Their mission? To hunt down the one player who takes on the role as the titular Predator, complete with cloaking abilities and advanced weaponry.
One group of players will control members of an elite Fireteam who pack state-of-the-art conventional firepower, from shotguns and SMGs to sniper rifles and more. Meanwhile, one player will control the Predator: a stealthy, acrobatic killing machine bristling with exotic alien technology such as the infamous Plasmacaster. As the Fireteam attempt to carry out paramilitary missions – annihilating bad guys and recovering important items – the Predator will be closing in, using its advanced vision mode to track and ambush its prey.
The announcement was made with a short cinematic trailer released during the Sony event. While many fans might have wanted a single player Predator game, the asymmetrical multiplayer does make sense. Plus, who wouldn’t want to hunt down their friends in the jungle as the Predator?
Predator: Hunting Grounds is set for release sometime in 2020 on the PlayStation 4.
