After the release of Black Panther earlier this year, people from around the world have been trying to visit the fictional world of Wakanda, not knowing that the African kingdom doesn’t really exist. According to a survey shared by online accommodation booking website Hotels.com, searches for Wakanda have surged over the last year.
Businessman MK Malefane is hoping to take advantage of the appeal by building a unique theme-park based around the futuristic city. And, while different locations are being explored, Nelson Mandela Bay seems to be the front-runner.
According to reports, Malefane is working closely with the same companies responsible for building the Disney’s theme parks in order to create an African-centric park that replicas the technologically advanced city of Wakanda.
Of course, this seems like the perfect idea to increase tourism to South African and Port Elizabeth. With so many people hoping to catch a glimpse of the wondrous Black Panther city, it makes perfect sense to build it here on African soil.
Wakanda forever!
