During a media event at GDC Sony confirmed the price as well as the release window for PlayStation VR.
The PlayStation VR will cost $399 / €399 /£349 and has a release window of October 2016. When purchasing the PlayStation VR you will receive the following: The VR headset, a processor unit, the connection cable, HDMI and USB cables, headphones and a power supply. It was also confirmed by Sony that the PlayStation VR would require a PlayStation camera which will not be included with the unit. Those who purchase the unit will also receive the Playroom in VR as a free download.
Sony also announced that there would be 50 games available this year for PlayStation VR and that more developers are currently working on VR related projects. Part of the PlayStation VR package will be a Cinematic Mode which will allow users to enjoy different content on a large virtual screen when wearing the unit. The Cinematic Mode would support PS4 games as well, according to Sony.
Sony has some competition to contend with in the form of the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive which will also launch this year.
