With cheating becoming more of a problem for online gaming, Blizzard has decided to take a firm stance against cheaters in Overwatch.
If you are caught cheating in Overwatch you are out, no strikes, warnings or even temporary suspensions. If and when you get caught you will be permanently banned from the game.
In the words of Lylirra, the community manager at the Battle.net forums:
“If a player is found to be cheating – or using hacks, bots, or third-party software that provides any sort of unfair advantage – that player will be permanently banned from the game. Full stop. Not only does cheating undermine the spirit of fair play that all of our products are based on, but it works to diminish the fun and enjoyment of others.”
This is a very hard and welcome stance that Blizzard has taken since cheating has become a huge problem in online gaming especially, in the competitive gaming circles. Will other studios follow suit and start banning cheater? I for one hope that this could be the beginning of solving the problem of cheating in online gaming.
