Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage, who was once cast as the lead in Tim Burton’s fabled Superman Lives, will finally get his chance to play Superman in the upcoming animated Teen Titans GO! Movies. It’s taken twenty years, but Cage is finally giving the world the Man of Steel we deserve and joining DC’s pint-sized superheroes onscreen.
It’s not a #SXSW party until the Teen Titans show up! If you’re in Austin, come get a sneak peek of our new movie at the @cartoonnetwork Screen on the Green TONIGHT – doors open at 6:30PM, footage begins at 8PM, no badge required! #TeenTitansGOMovie #CNatSXSW pic.twitter.com/52tZVhrDwz

Most fans already know that Cage is a noted Superman fan. A while back he owned a copy of Superman’s debut issue, Action Comics #1 (which he later sold for more than $2 million), and even named his son Kal-El after the character’s Kryptonian name. In addition to Nicolas Cage, it’s been announced that singer Halsey will voice Wonder Woman in the movie, with rapper Lil Yachty voicing Green Lantern.
Executive producer Sam Register spoke with USA Today regarding the choice:
“Every superhero in the DC Universe has an impact on the fans, so we felt a great responsibility to find a voice for each character that would not only suit the role, but the playful tone of the Titans, and we’re thrilled with our cameo cast.”
It’s a little hard to explain its appeal, but Teen Titans Go! has become something special to DC fans. Cartoon Network has produced over 200 episodes thus far and its fandom shows no signs of slowing down. The voice cast includes Greg Cripes (Beast Boy), Tara Strong (Raven), Khary Payton (Cyborg), Scott Menville (Robin), and Hynden Walch (Starfire).
