With Nintendo’s Switch exceeding expectations when it launched it was only time before Nintendo would release a new version of the popular console and, according to The Wall Street Journal, that could happen earlier than many would’ve anticipated.
A report in the WSJ has revealed that Nintendo could be planning to release a new version of the Switch as soon as the second half of 2019. While the report doesn’t contain much detail on what improvements we could expect from the updated version of the console, many are expecting it to include a better quality LCD screen, which would be thinner, lighter and more energy efficient as well as being in-line with the screens found in modern-day cell phones.
The report does make sense when looking at Nintendo’s history, especially when considering how many different versions of the much-loved DS and 3DS they have released over the years, each being a small improvement over its previous version. It would also be in line with what both Sony and Microsoft have done with the Xbox One S and the PlayStation Pro, basically releasing updated versions of existing gen consoles.
What would you like to see in a newer, updated version of the Switch?
