I still remember watching episodes of Voltron with my little brother back when we were younger and now the Netflix series has allowed me to do the same with my daughters. So if you are a fan, like me and my kids, LEGO has some great news for you as they just announced that a set based on the 1984 animated series will be releasing later this year.
The LEGO Voltron Defender of the Universe set will go on sale on the official LEGO site from the 1st of August. The set will be one of the biggest Mecha LEGO sets yet, with an astounding 2321 pieces in total and is based on the design submitted by Len_D69.
Of course, no Voltron set would be complete if it didn’t actually feature the five lions and, luckily, the new set from LEGO includes these and the iconic Blazing Sword. All five lions, just as in the animated series, combine to form Voltron.
Not only does the set consist of a whopping amount of pieces but also stands over 15-inches-tall, which is quite large. It’s great to see LEGO releasing more and more nostalgia inspired LEGO sets such as these. Now, if they would only release a Dino-Riders and ThunderCats set.
The LEGO Voltron Defender of the Universe set will be available in limited quantities, so you better grab one while you can. I’m quite sure these will disappear rather quickly.
No pilot minifigs?
