When God of War was first released on the PlayStation 4, fans were blown away by the games brutal combat, engrossing story and spectacular visuals. Fast forward a year later and a newly released PlayStation 4 theme might hint that a sequel is on the way.
In celebration of the one-year anniversary of God of War’s release, developer Sony Santa Monica have unveiled a free dynamic theme to thank fans for supporting the game.
While the theme might be a nice gesture, eagle-eyed fans have already scoured it for hints of a sequel. And they actually found something that might be hinting just that.
In the image, both Kratos and Atreus are sitting in a rowboat. If you look carefully you would notice some Nordic runes etched into the boat. When translated into English the runes read “Ragnarok is coming”.
For those not familiar with Ragnarok, it basically refers to the end times in Nordic mythology. Fans have speculated before that Kratos and Atreus would bring on Ragnarok and now it seems that this will indeed be the case.
With the success of God of War on the PlayStation 4, it makes sense for developer Santa Monica to be hard at work on a sequel, or at least we hope so.
No, the question remains, if these ruins refer to a sequel, how long will we have to wait before we can play God of War 2?
