The new Doom Eternal trailer doesn’t only include the obligatory gory kills and horned demons but also a bit of narrative exposition. But, honestly, do we really need a reason to pump demons full of lead? Earth is a demon-filled mess and it’s up to you to kick the marauding demons and angels off of your home.
Judging by the trailer, the game promises to be even more fast-paced, bloody and, basically, more fun than its predecessor. Along with all the gore, there are some firey environments, bloody finisher moves, some grappling hook action (a new mechanic in the series), some big and deadly looking bosses and, of course, a laser sword.
The trailer also reveals two new enemies, the Marauder and the Gladiator, both suitably intimidating. We also catch a glimpse of some of the more angelic foes players will be facing off against.
Doom Eternal promises more of what we’ve come to love about the series. Why reinvent something that works so perfectly? After being disappointed by the game’s delay, we can’t wait to finally get some playtime when it releases later this year.
