“No crime. No poverty. No unemployment. The state of our union is strong.”
Who doesn’t love a good alien invasion film? Focus Features and Participant Media have released a new trailer for the upcoming dystopian sci-fi film Captive State from director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes).
Unlike Independence Day: Resurgence, this one looks like it has the goods to be a great time at the theatre. Plus, it’s always worth good money to see John Goodman go to war with extraterrestrials. It’s always captivating!
Over the years, we’ve seen this sort of thing come in all shapes and sizes. Captive State seems to find middle-ground between being a blockbuster like Independence Day and 2016’s Arrival. Hopefully, that means that we’ll probably get a good story to accompany the large explosions.
Set in a Chicago neighbourhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force, Captive State explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.
The film stars Ashton Sanders, John Goodman and Vera Farmiga, with supporting cast Machine Gun Kelly and Madeline Brewer.
