With the next Marvel instalment around the corner, the 8 March 2019 (International Women’s Day) to be exact, the studio has released a brand new Captain Marvel trailer which features more action and more one-liners. Also, we are finally given more clarity on why our heroine is punching that old lady on the train.
The new trailer opens with Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) giving Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) the lowdown on shapeshifting Skrulls and warning him that an alien invasion is on the way. We are then brisked away to Danvers fighting in space and shown some training with Jude Law’s character. Also, we get a brief appearance of a younger version of Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson – because the film takes place before the majority of the current MCU films.
Basically, if you’re a fan of previous Marvel films, this looks like more of the same.
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the centre of the maelstrom.
Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. It also stars Ben Mendelsohn, Clark Gregg, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, and Annette Bening.
