Say what you like, but it’s pretty obvious that The Silence is a combination of A Quiet Place and Bird Box. Netflix’s next post-apocalyptic horror/thriller is here and it requires you to be very, very quiet. There is a colony of killer bats listening.
Directed by John R. Leonetti (who did the first Annabelle) and based on the 2015 novel of the same name written Tim Lebbon, the film stars Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Stanley Tucci, Miranda Otto, John Corbett, Kate Trotter and Kyle Breitkopf.
When the world is under attack from terrifying creatures who hunt their human prey by sound, 16-year old Ally Andrews (Kiernan Shipka), who lost her hearing at 13, and her family seek refuge in a remote haven. But they discover a sinister cult who are eager to exploit Ally’s heightened senses.
The trailer sure looks interesting and it suggests that Netflix hopes to continue its success with films like Bird Box. And who can blame them? There’s clearly a market for it.
