Netflix’s streak of creating awesome original movies is set to continue with their latest offering, Project Power.
The sci-fi thriller starring Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dominique Fishback will be available to stream in August.
Project Power is set in New Orleans, where a new pill gives users superpowers that last just five minutes. But what that power will be remains a mystery until the user takes the pill.
The story follows Art (Jamie Foxx), who is on a quest to rescue his daughter from the sinister forces behind the drug. Along the way, he gets some help from Frank (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a police officer, and Robin (Dominique Fishback), a young dealer. Together, the unlikely team attempts to put a stop to the pill’s creators.
The trailer introduces the pill as Project Power – the next step in the evolution of the human species. It also shows off some of the superpowers people could get after taking it. But the biggest reveal is that Art’s daughter may have been the one who developed the formula for the pill.

But the film isn’t just all action and drama.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, directors Ariel Schulman and Hendry Joost shared what they had in mind when creating the film…
“We knew that we weren’t trying to make a really darkly serious film because that’s just not us. The way we try to get our messages across is with fun and humour. You want actors who have that humanity… that can be serious and light”, Ariel Schulman said.
“We didn’t want to make a movie that was relentlessly dark or relentlessly bleak. Just reflected life, which, sometimes in the midst of these really scary situations, there’s levity to be found. We were looking for it”, Henry Joost added.
The film co-stars Machine Gun Kelly, Rodrigo Santoro and Amy Landecker.
