With the delightfully and tough as nails Cuphead loved by both critics and gamers, it was only a matter of time before this franchise started popping up in other media as well. A new cartoon series based on the game and its hand-drawn universe is on the way.
The announcement was made by Cuphead developer MDHR on Twitter, tweeting that The Cuphead Show is heading to Netflix, and that we’ll experience the Inkwell Isles like never before.

The show is currently still in development at Netflix, with the company’s in-house animation team handling the show’s animation which is inspired by 1930s cartoons.
According to a press release from Netflix, the show will follow the misadventures of the titular Cuphead and his brother Mugman and will be a character-driven comedy. Although the show will be aimed at audiences of all ages, co-creators Chad and Jared Moldenhauer have stated that the goal of the series was to appeal to both kids and adults, with each finding something they can relate to. This of course doesn’t mean that it will be a kids cartoon as the cartoon will have the same feel as the game.
C.J Kettler and Dave Wasson and Cosmo Segurson will act as executive producers, with the Moldenhauer brothers acting as producers.
