Netflix is giving the people what they want with the return of Castlevania in some form, coming to us via the new Castlevania: Nocturne.

Suppose you have not seen Netflix’s animated adaptation of the retro video game series Castlevania. In that case, you have 100% been sleeping under a rock. Starring names like Alejandra Reynoso as Sypha Belnades, Graham McTavish as Dracula himself, James Callis as Alucard, and Richard Armitage as Trevor Belmont, the animated adventure took the world by storm when it first aired in 2017.
The stunning Netflix animation ran for four seasons, telling the extraordinary story of the creatures of the night no longer skulking in the shadows as the king of all vampires, Dracula himself, embarks on a crusade to avenge the loss of his beautiful human wife who was burned as a witch. The story follows the vampires in his court, as well as Sypha, Trevor and Alucard, three unlikely teammates who work together to quell the forces of darkness, as Alucard tries to face his father and stop his madness.

The fourth season of Castlevania ended at a massive climax before one of the best resolutions possible. I’m sure you can tell that I was one of many devastated when I binged through the entire series.

It would have been understandable if Netflix had chosen to leave the story there, but fans, as they always do, wanted more. Soon, we get to follow the story again as the descendent and heir of Sypha and Trevor, Richter Belmont, moves through the world created in his ancestors’ wake, continuing the Belmont legacy of vampire hunting.
Netflix released the latest trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne on the 8th of September, and it looks so good that us Castlevania fans might finally have something new to binge when it comes out!
All that being said, however, what Netflix really needs to do right now is draw back the curtain and give us what we really want. When Castlevania first aired, we were aware of how everything came about. However, a lot of the origin is still a mystery. Considering the first Castlevania video game came out in 1986, I wonder if most people watching the Netflix animation will know the original lore of the series.

For those of us who felt a little in the dark but fell in love with the series, what we want is to see how everything started, and what better way to do that than to show us the life of Dracula before he became the first vampire and was changed, able to enslave the armies of darkness, something kind of Dracula Untold-inspired maybe?
Please join me to watch Castlevania: Nocturne when it launches on Netflix on the 28th of September, 2023.
