It’s hard to believe that it is happening, but Netflix has released the first trailer for their upcoming Castlevania animated series, and it’s just as bloody as we had hoped.
The first Netflix Castlevania series trailer starts off with a custom Castlevania cartridge being inserted into a Nintendo Entertainment System which boots up an ‘old school’ version of the Netflix streaming software (which we wish actually existed). The anonymous player selects the Castlevania series, and then, we finally get to see what the actual series will look like. We get to see loads of skeletons, fire from the sky, and what appears to be a Belmont grabbing his whip and fighting his way through Dracula’s castle. We even get to see a character which looks a lot like Alucard, the half-breed son of Dracula.
From the short teaser, it looks like the series will keep true to the game’s gothic dark tone. It will be focusing on the last surviving member of a disgraced clan (we guess the Belmonts) who fights to save Eastern Europe from Dracula.
The series is produced by Adi Shankar, Frederator, Powerhouse animation and Netflix, with Warren Ellis doing the writing.
