It seems the rumour mill was correct. At The Game Awards, NetherRealm revealed that Mortal Kombat 11 would be releasing next year.
Along with the Mortal Kombat 11 announcement, NetherRealm also released a new trailer for the game. Of course, its just as gory as we expect as we see fan favourites Scorpion and Raiden facing off against each other in bloody combat. It’s brutal, gruesome, and we love it.
Mortal Kombat 11, which features an original music track created in collaboration with multi-platinum selling rapper 21 Savage, will include the ability to customise characters, which seems similar to what Injustice 2 allowed players to do with regards to customising their armour sets. Whether this will include changing your character aesthetically is yet to be confirmed.
The game will also see both new and old characters returning to the roster. As with previous iterations, the next instalment in the award-winning franchise will also feature a story mode, which has for the most part always been surprisingly good.
“By giving players more creative control, Mortal Kombat 11 is a testament to why this iconic franchise is so strong and increasingly relevant after more than 25 years,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “This game showcases NetherRealm Studios’ extensive talent to innovate and create epic experiences for the Mortal Kombat fans and new players alike.”
The upcoming fighter will show off its first gameplay debut at Mortal Kombat 11: The Reveal, the community celebration of all things Mortal Kombat, on January 17, 2019. According to the new trailer, if you pre-order you get Shao Khan and beta access.
Mortal Kombat 11 is set for release on the 23rd of April 2019 for the Xbox One, Playstation4 and PC. So get ready to FIGHT!
