It looks DC fans can expect to see a new version of the Joker in the upcoming Batman trilogy.
While Joaquin Phoenix’s interpretation of the Clown Prince of Crime wowed audiences in 2019, Matt Reeves is rumoured to be working on a different version of the iconic villain for his Batman trilogy.
Reports suggest that Reeves plans to introduce the Joker in the second and third movies as one of the films’ multiple villains. This new Joker will be referenced in The Batman, and casting for the role has yet to begin.
The Batman is one of Warner Bros. and DC’s most anticipated films of 2021.
While the exact plot details are still under wraps, we do know that the film will focus on a younger Bruce Wayne during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector.
However, Reeves has hinted (on Twitter) at the film’s connection to the Year One comic book story arc, written by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli which was published in 1987.

The movie will also feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler.
Starring alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman/Bruce Wayne is Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson, and Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Reál.
Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell round out the cast as Alfred and Oswald Cobblepot respectively.
The Batman was originally set for release on June 25, 2021. It’s now expected to premiere on October 1, 2021.
Who would you like to see as Joker in Matt Reeves’ The Batman?

I really think they should have me as the Joker, because I would be best at it.
