A few months back, LEGO Group announced that it would be partnering with Nintendo and the Super Mario brand for an upcoming release. A few days ago, the team announced the full product portfolio for the LEGO Super Mario Play Experience.
With LEGO having teased the LEGO Super Mario collection back in March, the team has announced the full range of Expansion Packs that accompany the Adventures with Starter Course.
The collection is a mix of Character Packs and Power-Up Packs. With its collaboration with Nintendo, the range of figurines is set to reinvent the way people interact with Super Mario in the real world.
The product is set to feature a number of fan favourites, including being able to build Mario’s house, search for hidden treasures and defeat a Koopa Troopa in the Guarded Fortress.
The Starter Course from the LEGO Super Mario collection is key to unlocking the entire play. The Starter Course is the only from the pack to include the interactive LEGO Mario figure that collects coins in-game levels created with LEGO bricks.
Each of the playsets are unique in that they all offer their own challenges and characters for fans to enjoy and play with or to play among your friends.
The March teaser revealed the Piranha Plant Power Slide Expansion Set and Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set.
The additional sets launched in this week’s announcement includes the Guarded Fortress Expansion Set, Desert Pokey Expansion Set, Whomp’s Lava Trouble Expansion Set, Mario’s House & Yoshi Expansion Set, Toad’s Treasure Hunt Expansion Set, as well as the Boomer Bill Barrage Expansion Set.
In addition to the playsets, the announcement also includes 10 collectable enemy characters, which are available in bling bag character packs. These all add an extra level of excitement to players and collectors.
Each pack contains a buildable character and action tag to play with. The blind packs include one of the following: Paragoomba, Bullet Bill, Spiny, Fuzzy, Buzzy Beetle, Bob-omb, Blooper, Urchin, Eep Cheep or Peepa.
Each of the Expansion Sets and collectable Characters are made to be used with the Adventures with Mario Starter Course. The additions to the pack add enhanced play experience.
The set features seven action bricks for different interactions with the LEGO Super Mario figure. This figure includes LCD screens in its eyes, mouth and belly to display instant reactions to movement, colour and action bricks.
To round off the new collection, LEGO Group also announced the creation of a new app. The app was designed to support features to further enhance the physical play experience by keeping track of scores to encourage rebuilding and provides digital building instructions with zoom and rotate viewing tools to allow for easier building.
There are also a number of suggestions of other creative ways to build and play, as well as a safe forum to share ideas among friends and the greater LEGO community.
The LEGO Super Mario collection is set to launch in September 2020. Fans, however, can pre-order the LEGO Super Mario Starter Course online from today.
