Last year, the world was rocked by the tragic loss of Jason David Frank, known as one of the best action stars of his era and loved for his work throughout the Power Rangers franchise. His tragic passing happened while he was filming for Legend of the White Dragon. Thankfully, he had filmed enough that the film could continue through its production phase. Legend of the White Dragon
Production for Legend of the White Dragon started in May of 2021. Power Rangers fans worldwide couldn’t have been more excited about the film’s announcement until the news hit the media that Jason David Frank had passed.
Dealing with the heartbreak of losing their hero, fans now had to deal with the possibility that they might never see that film. Instead of dropping the concept because of the tragedy, Falling Forward Films, Bascule Entertainment, and Bat in the Sun Productions decided that the best thing they could do to honour his legacy was to continue producing the film.
Legend of the White Dragon tells the tale of Erik Reed (played by Jason David Frank), a warrior who became the White Dragon but doing so caused colossal collateral damage. With his identity revealed, he had no choice but to go on the run. When his past comes back to haunt him, threatening innocents, he must come out of hiding and protect humanity again, despite what they think of him.

The official synopsis reads: “In the Aftermath, the city was left decimated. A past reminder of the great battle and fall of heroes. The heroes were blamed, stripped of their titles and hunted.”
The cast of the film includes Jason David Frank, of course, as well as Aaron Schoenke, Cerina Vincent, Ciara Hanna, David Ramsey, Jason Faunt, Kevin Porter, King Bach, Mark Dacascos, Mayling Ng, Michael Madsen, Rachel Brooke Smith, and last but certainly not least, Jenna Rae Frank, daughter of the late Jason David Frank himself.

After having little to no news about the film’s status, fans were relieved and overjoyed when the production studios released an exclusive film trailer at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con on the 22nd of June. Not only has the highly anticipated action-adventure fantasy film continued, but fans now have a rough idea of when they will be able to see the film in theatres.
Packed full of action, stunning visual effects and filmography, magnificent performances from the cast involved and a storyline expected to thrill and shock its viewers, fans worldwide have a fabulous action-packed adventure ahead of them.
Although an exact release date for the film hasn’t been shared just yet, fans and moviegoers can expect to see the film in theatres in 2024, with promises of a more exact release date to come in the future.
With a legacy as impactful and impressive as Jason David Frank’s, it’s a blessing to see his last appearance come to fruition, and the Legend of the White Dragon trailer has only sparked more excitement from fans to see his legacy to continue further.
