Why hasn’t there been another game based in the Harry Potter universe? I mean, you’ve got magic, mythical creatures, mysterious heroes and scary as all hell villains. Anyone can see that this is a recipe for a great RPG. Well, if new leaked footage proves to be genuine then a new Harry Potter game might be in the works.
Footage that claims to be from a new Harry Potter game was leaked onto Reddit by VapeThisBro who reveals that he secretly recorded the footage while partaking in a survey group. He claims that when he left the company in charge of the survey forgot to let him sign an NDA. He was also not checked for a recording device, even though the signs at the survey clearly forbid entering with cell phones or cameras, according to him.
Many have begun to doubt the authenticity of the footage, which has since been removed from YouTube (although I’m sure it is still floating around the web) due to a copyright claim from Warner Bros. The footage, which shows sweeping vistas of Hogwarts, some third person combat and character customisation, has many debating its authenticity with some commenting that it is way too detailed to be fan-made.
A description posted along with the video reveals that the mysterious game would star a fifth-year student at Hogwarts and that players will be able to curse dark wizards and goblins, have the freedom to choose to be good or evil and even decide which of eight character classes they would like to play as.
So, which studio could be working on this rumoured game? Initially, it was speculated that RockSteady (Batman Arkham), which is owned by Warner Bros., could be developing the game. However, many seem to think that ex-Disney Infinity developer Avalanche Software could be the studio working on it as they were bought by Warner Bros. Even better is that the rumours also suggest that the game’s release date could be a year away, which doesn’t seem that far away.
Would you like to see a new Harry Potter game releasing? If so, what would you like to see the rumoured game include?
