The latest Marvel’s Avengers trailer finally gives us an in-depth look at some of the mechanics that will be present in the final game.
A lot of questions have been asked about Crystal Dynamics developed Marvel’s Avengers since its announcement, and now a brand new trailer sets out to answer a few of them. The trailer gives us a rundown of the game’s narrative.
After unveiling their brand new Terrigen powered reactor, something terrible goes wrong and the result is a ruined San Fransisco. Because of this event, the Avengers are forced to disband with the power vacuum, giving AIM the opportunity to gain a foothold as the new protectors of Earth. It is up to a young Kamala Khan to try and bring the Avengers back together again.
The trailer reveals that your base of operations, an abandoned helicarrier, will be upgradable as you progress. Of course, beating AIM means getting better gear, which players will be able to unlock as they progress. As expected, Marvel’s Avengers also has a variety of unique costumes available to unlock (or purchase through microtransactions) from across the Marvel universe.
Initially, I was very sceptical about the game and the direction Crystal Dynamics was taking, especially since it places a lot of focus on multiplayer and follows a Destiny-esque model, but, as we see more of the game, its would seem that the developer is listening to fans.
