With Naughty Dog keeping details about The Last Of Us 2 under wraps, it was only a matter of time before fans started to dig out tidbits of details from the information available. And now it seems a couple of dedicated fans have done just that. Allow me to put on my tin foil hat for a bit.
Reddit user Voldsby was the first to start the noble quest of figuring out where The Last of Us 2 takes place. Voldsby noticed that the parking signs used by the game looked similar to those being used in Seattle. This led to the discovery that a building in the concept art, with the word “Driftwood” painted on one of its corners, resembled a building that is also found in Seattle.
Voldsby went as far as to compare the plant life that grows around Seattle with that found in the images and trailer for the game and, surprisingly, the ferns seen in the trailer resemble the western sword fern which is found in the Pacific Northwest.
Spurred on by the news, fellow Reddit user RoganJosho then discovered a second building that resembles one found in Seattle, this time a building used for underground parking.
And finally, Reddit user Falconbox then used Google Maps to find these two buildings only to discover that they are just a few blocks away from each other.
So keeping all these clues in mind, it seems that The Last of Us 2 might indeed be taking place in Seattle. Whether these rumours prove true or not, this group of dedicated fans are to be commended for uncovering so many details within the small collection of information available.
