Knowledge Is Power is a trivia quiz party game that is part of the PlayLink family of social gaming titles. The game is designed for people of all ages to enjoy, using your smartphone or tablet to participate. It brings back fond memories of the Buzz series that was a hit on the previous generation PlayStation consoles, but can it live up to its successor? You’re damn right it can and it does it with so much more fun.

Knowledge Is Power makes use of our smartphones and tablets as a controller, so no need to purchase any extra Dual Shock or Buzz-like controllers. All that is needed is your smartphone and to download the app either from the PlayStore (Android) or Itunes (iOS). The game allows for up to 6 players to join in on the fun all at once. Once the app is downloaded, you just load it up and sync it with you PlayStation via a Wi-Fi network. You then get to select one of 8 characters and take a selfie to create a profile. The characters range from a moustached man wearing a hotdog outfit to a depressed goth fairy, and they all come with their own unique selfie filter.

The app also includes a stand-alone quiz for when you are not connected to your PlayStation, which is a pretty nice touch.

A typical game lasts about half an hour which is perfect when having friends over.

The actual game starts off with you selecting one of four categories, represented by doors which your character runs into. You play through 12 rounds of questions and you get to choose various categories at the start of every round. You also get to choose a power play which allows you to slow down your opponents as they will need to swipe slime or break through ice to get the answers. At the end of the 12th round, you play the Grand Finale, where you need to be the fastest up the Pyramid of Knowledge by answering multiple questions. As a reward, you end up winning a scroll with a random interesting fact. A typical game lasts about half an hour which is perfect when having friends over.

The graphics are very playful, with bright colours and has a cartoonish feel to the background and quirky characters (similar to the Little Big Planet franchise).

Overall, Knowledge Is Power is a great party game to play with your family and friends. You can get a good couple of hours of fun out of it. It will definitely be a hit with the holiday season approaching.
