Actor Vincent D’Onofrio posted a new photo of himself (a muscled gym selfie) as rumours swirl that he will return as Wilson Fisk (The Kingpin) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) — following his appearance in Disney+’s Hawkeye, of course.
“63 but who’s counting,” D’Onofrio wrote in the caption of the photo — which shows him working out and putting on a lot of muscle. Could this be prep for an undisclosed appearance in one of the MCU films? A Spider-Man sequel or Daredevil perhaps?
The Twitter post didn’t leave us many clues. Only the hashtag “#NoFearNoGreedNoEnvy” was included in the tweet.
Vincent D’Onofrio portrayed the crime boss Wilson Fisk / Kingpin for all three seasons of Netflix’s Daredevil series, which began in 2015 before being cancelled in 2018. This left the characters from all of the now-defunct Marvel Television series.
The character then appeared in Episode 5 of Hawkeye, although at the time there was no confirmation that it was the exact same Kingpin from the Netflix. But as we know, Marvel then confirmed that the Netflix Marvel characters were now part of the MCU.
D’Onofrio then revealed the reason why his character has a few differences. “He obviously has more physical strength and can take a lot more physical abuse, but from a story point of view it was discussed that this is after the Blip, that he is the same guy that was in Daredevil, but he’s lost some of his power and that my arc in Hawkeye is that I want my power back.”

The season finale of Hawkeye left Kingpin’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe uncertain, but actor Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin, hopes to reprise his role in more Marvel projects. “I hope he didn’t die. I’m with the fans, I want to keep playing this part. My hope is that we continue.”
Daredevil and the rest of the Netflix Marvel shows are now available on Disney+. Daredevil (Charlie Cox) has since appeared in a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and a Disney+ reboot has also been announced.
Could Vincent D’Onofrio’s transformation be prep for his return as Kingpin in the upcoming Daredevil show? We’ll have to wait and see. It will certainly be interesting to see a more physical version of the character in the upcoming Disney+ series.
Heck, we’ve been asking for a Deadpool vs Kingpin movie for some time now.
