Who would’ve thought that we would be getting news of a new game based on Jumanji in 2019? Thanks to Funsolve, Outright Games and Bandai Namco, you’ll be able to step into the shoes of your favourite Jumanji character.
The Jumanji: The Video Game seems to be based on the 2017 film of the same name, judging by the trailer that was released. The trailer features the likenesses of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Karen Gilan, Jack Black and Kevin Hart, which could indicate that players will be able to choose one of these four characters, as the game is said to be a co-operative adventure for up to three friends. It will also include the signature humour from the film.
Players will have to join forces on a mission to find missing jewels, all the while fending off all kinds of dangers, including groups of evil marauders out for blood and the dangerous animals that inhabit the jungle.
Jumanji: The Video Game will also include online multiplayer as well as split-screen play, or you could go it alone with A.I companions.
While the trailer doesn’t reveal much, it gives us a taste of the game’s more cartoony styled visuals, which makes use of the Unreal Engine 4.
It is also important to note that developer Outright Games have adapted quite a few TV series and movies into games, including Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion, Steven Universe: Save The Light and, more recently, Dreamworks Dragons: Dawn of New Riders based on the How To Train Your Dragon films.
