2017’s reboot, or sequel, to 1995’s Jumanji, starring Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas was a massive hit scoring a total of $962 million worldwide. As the 5th highest grossing film of that year, it was only natural for the studio to approve another. Here is the trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level.
When news of Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle first broke, I was extremely cautious. After all, the first film holds a special place in the hearts of many fans, especially since it revolutionised CGI in such a big way. Thankfully, the sequel wasn’t a big let down, even though it was missing the charm of Robin Williams. Still, it was funny and fun, for the most part. I just wished it wasn’t called Jumanji. Because the honest truth is that it didn’t need to be a sequel or a reboot. It could have been its own thing.
Of course, the sequel will see the return of Dwayne Johnson as Dr Smolder Bravestone, Jack Black as Professor Sheldon Oberon, Kevin Hart as Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse, and Nick Jonas as Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough. And we’re okay with seeing them again. But it’s still hard to accept this as Jumanji.
In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.
The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Alex Wolff, with Danny Glover and Danny DeVito.
