Rumours around Ben Affleck making a return as Batman continues to do the rounds on the internet.
A while back it was reported that AT&T and Warner Media want Ben Affleck to don the cowl again. The actor is also reportedly in talks to finish the script for an original solo Batman movie.
But the latest “confirmed” report has to be the juiciest one yet.
Reports suggest that an HBO Max miniseries or movie is in the works, with Affleck tapped to take the lead as Batman once again. But it gets better! Apparently the streaming giant doesn’t have their sights set on Affleck alone. The company also wants Jared Leto and Joe Manganiello to be part of the project too.
The news was first reported by The Culture Nerd and fans have been buzzing with excitement ever since.
According to the site, Affleck will be adapting his original script for the project and is also in talks to return to the director’s chair, with Zack Snyder serving as producer (Gasp!!).
The move comes as a result of Warner Bros. being committed to Matt Reeves’ The Batman trilogy.
It is said that HBO’s project will likely follow the storyline that was teased in the post-credits scene of Justice League (or in Zack Snyder’s Justice League).
Affleck’s script is rumoured to feature Arkham Asylum, Joker, Deathstroke, and more of Batman’s rogue gallery.
If Affleck is truly committed to the project the next step would be getting Leto and Manganiello to reprise their roles as the Joker and Deathstroke respectively.
In recent times DC’s Extended Universe has successfully branched out into multiple formats, from feature films, television series, and animated series. While this proves that we can have more than one interpretation of Batman at the same time, fans will have to wait and see if anything actually comes off these reports.
Nope. This isn’t happening. Calm yourselves.
