Two years ago, we first featured the news of Eaglemoss’s DC Comics Graphic Novel Collection, practically pleading for the collection to come to South Africa. Well, as we know, South Africa moves a little slower than the rest of the world, but the good news is, it’s finally here. Now, here’s the insane bit: for the introductory price of R29.90, you can pick up a hardcover copy of Batman: Hush Part 1, which collects Batman #608-613 as well as the first appearance of Batman in Detective Comics #27. That’s cheaper than buying a 32-page comic book from anywhere.

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]f you’re unfamiliar with the Hush storyline, it’s a heralded, year-long DC Comics event that featured Batman going toe to toe with his rogue gallery of villains while dealing with a mysterious stalker named Hush. Focusing on the detective aspect of the Dark Knight, it’s a gritty crime thriller in the same style as the Nolan films with lots of familiar faces and intriguing angles. Written by the legendary Jeph Loeb (The Long Halloween) and pencilled by iconic artist Jim Lee (All Star Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder), Hush is constantly ranked as one of the best Batman graphic novels of all time.

In addition to Hush Part 1, Batman fans will also get Detective Comics #27, the issue that birthed the caped crusader – even if he did look a little bit different as the “Bat-Man”. This isn’t just a must-read, but a must-have for any comic book fan as it’s a vital piece of popular culture history to complete any collection.

With most graphic novels retailing at anything over R250 these days, DC Comics Graphic Novel Collection provides you with a cheaper alternative that isn’t inferior in quality. Batman: Hush Part 1 is a fantastic way to kick off the series, and an absolute godsend for local DC fans.
