Sucker Punch has announced the release date for their upcoming and highly anticipated open-world samurai game, Ghosts of Tsushima.
Since its announcement, Ghosts of Tsushima has had PlayStation fans excited. The game takes place on the Japanese island of Tsushima as Mongol invaders have caused endless suffering and destruction. It’s up to protagonist Jin Sakai to protect his home and people from the ruthless invaders. The only way to achieve this is to set aside the way of the samurai and become a whole new kind of warrior.
The game, which many suspected might be a PlayStation 5 launch title, is set to release on the PlayStation 4 on the 26th of June, which is just around the corner. Along with the release date announcement Sucker Punch also released a gorgeous, and action-packed story trailer which shows the game’s protagonist, Jin Sakai, in actin as he travels across the game’s beautifully realised open world.
The developer also revealed that the game will have multiple editions, including a Digital Deluxe Edition, a Physical Special Edition and the $169.99 Collector’s Edition (which includes a variety of digital and physical goodies as well as the absolutely stunning looking Sakai mask and stand and a Sahimono war banner).
The game was first announced way back in October 2017 and, as time passed, many expected the game to form part of Sony’s next-gen console launch line-up. Hopefully, Ghosts of Tsushima can reach the same heights as the developer’s previous releases.
