Developer Drastic Games, which consists of veterans from Epic Games, has released a trailer for their upcoming game Soundfall.
Soundfall blends rhythm-based gameplay with the much-loved twin-stick shooter mechanics into one thumping harmonious game. Players take on the role of Melody, who is on a quest to stop the dark power of Discord from enveloping the lands of Symphonia. Sounds like your bog standard good vs evil game, but there is one rather unique twist to Soundfall. Everything in the game, including loot and enemies, are procedurally generated and react to a range of musical elements, meaning that everything changes as the music does. Battles synchronise to the beat of the music and players who time their attacks accordingly will be richly rewarded with all kinds of loot. It’s an interesting concept and one that has us intrigued. Now, I’ll be honest as soon as the trailer started playing I couldn’t help but tap my feet to the beat. If this is any indication of the sort of fast-paced, beat-filled action we can expect from the game, then count me in.
The game is set to release sometime in 2019 for the PlayStation4, Xbox One, and PC.
