With last Need for Speed receiving less than stellar reviews, developer Ghost Games have announced that the next game in the franchise will see some of the franchise’s most well-known features making a return. Oh, yeah and you will be able to play off-line (unlike the previous game).
In a recent post on the Need for Speed website, Ghost Games have announced that the next game in the franchise will have a completely offline single player experience. This is a feature fans have been waiting for, as the last two games in the franchise both needed to be connected online in order for them to be playable. This, of course, frustrated many of the franchise’s most loyal fans. It’s great to see Ghost Games listening to the fans and removing this unnecessary feature.
Although EA has yet to announce the title for the next game in the series, that didn’t stop the developer from giving us some insight into the game. They have confirmed that customization, something that has always been a cornerstone of the franchise, will be making a return. Along with this news, they also confirmed that those darn cops (who we love to hate) will also be a part of the next game. Ghost Games also hinted at a much more open and varied world in which to race your custom vehicle.
“Whether you’re checking out your freshly customised ride or smoking the competition in an event up in the canyons, you’re going to want a world that not only looks beautiful but offers you the space in which to do the things you want,” said Ghost Games. “We’re dialling up the action and allowing you to tear up the tarmac, and dirt, to your heart’s content.”
The above image from the series’s website also seems to indicate that we might be hearing more about the game on June the 2nd. One thing is quite sure, and that is that the game will be releasing this year.
I’m really hoping that the next game in the series will bring back all those old memories of pimping my custom race car and leaving the cops eating dust.
