Gearbox revealed the first Borderlands 3 gameplay during a recent livestream event. Not only does the game look really good, but it seems like it still offers all the gun-toting, chaotic action fans have come to love about the series.
Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford also revealed some more tidbits about Borderlands 3 and its mechanics. One feature new feature that I’m sure fans of the franchise will appreciate is the games new ‘Loot Instancing’ feature, which basically eliminated the need for you and your co-op partner to fight over loot drops as each player will effectively get different level appropriate loot.
Of course, there is also the option to play in what Gearbox calls ‘Classic Mode’, which will basically see the game playing like the previous games in the franchise when it comes to loot, meaning you and your co-op partner can fight for the shiniest gun to your heart’s content.
For the first time in Borderlands history, fans will be able to leave the planet Pandora behind as Borderlands 3 will be introducing a new hub city called Sanctuary III, a giant spaceship. From here, players will get to travel to different locales and planets.
With microtransactions being all the rage, it’s no surprise that the game will indeed include some form of it. Although, producer Chris Brock did reiterate that these will not be pay-to-win but rather cosmetic.
Borderlands 3 is shaping up to be more of the same Borderlands gameplay we all love, albeit sprinkled with some new features, shiny graphics and, of course, a lot more loot.
