GameStop has decided to enter the world of game publishing, development, and distribution with its new publishing arm GameTrust.
What sets GameTrust apart from other publishers is that they will not form part of the creative process and instead will allow the developers to take the lead. GameStop hopes that this will be a more nurturing environment for the developer’s creativity.
Insomniac Game’s new title Song of the Deep will be one of the first titles to be published by GameTrust. The retailer also announced that they signed three more studios on with GameTrust, Frozenbyte (Trine), Ready at Dawn (The Order: 1886) and Tequila Works (Deadlight).
GameStop plans to invest in digital, physical, console, PC and VR platforms.
