It has been announced that 20th Century Fox has acquired the life rights to comic book creator Stan Lee and intends to make a film with Lee as the main character.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey (Twilight, The Maze Runner, and Power Rangers) are attached to the project which has been described as having a similar tone and feel to The Kingsman: The Secret Service and the Roger Moore James Bond films. These films are known for their campy nature and over-the-top scenarios. The film will focus on the period of Lee’s life when he spent time in Hollywood in the 1970’s. There has been no word on whether the film would have a cameo from Stan Lee himself.
It is quite strange that these rights were given to Fox who has, shall we say a rather jaded history with films based on Marvel properties, one would have thought that Marvel Studious would have been Stan Lee’s first choice.
