We all know the classic fairytale story of Hansel and Gretel. But we’ve never seen it like this before. Directed by Oz Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter) and starring IT‘s Sophia Lillis as Gretel and Samuel Leaky as Hansel, Gretel And Hansel is set to forever change the way you look at the gingerbread house.
The music score, the actors, the visuals, the camera work and the setting all lend itself to be one of the scariest films the genre has to offer. Here is your chance to win tickets to an early screening.
Follow the crumbs.
GRETEL & HANSEL is a dark reimagining of the classic Grimm’s fairy tale. A girl (Sophia Lillis) and her younger brother (Sammy Leakey) leave home during a time of pestilence and famine. On their travels, they find solace in the home of an elderly woman (Alice Krige) whose motives may not be as pure as they appear.
A long time ago, in a cursed land, a young girl and her little brother are forced from their family home to search for food and work. Despite assistance from a noble huntsman, they become disorientated and lost in a deep, dark forest.
When they stumble across a magical cottage, inhabited by a seemingly kind old woman, Gretel & Hansel believe they have found sanctuary. But the woman’s limitless feasts in a time of famine, and her home’s strange murmurings of lost children and magical incarnations, suggests all may not be what it seems.
Can Gretel protect her younger brother, or will she succumb to the temptations that rise within her? Something wicked this way comes, in this dark reimagining of a classic fairy tale.
