The battle for who is the best football game is set to continue this year, with both FIFA and PES bringing new mechanics and features to this year’s titles. One improvement from FIFA 20 will see morale playing quite a significant role in the game’s Career Mode.
Although FIFA 20 is set to improve on many of last year’s mechanics, such as ball physics, one new feature does stand out from the rest. Along with a customisable avatar for your manager, you will also be able to change their looks completely (including whether they are male or female, as well as pick their outfit and accessories), the game will also be implementing a morale system.
Morale will influence the player’s attributes. How your customised manager interacts with the media and in one-on-one interactions with players will affect how the team performs. This means you’ll have even more options in player conversations and press conferences.
Career Mode will generate player storylines based on how they and their team performs, and how your manager reacts in this regard. This basically means that how you react in these situations will not only affect the player involved in these interactions but also the player’s standing as a manager.
This is an interesting addition to the game and one that might just set FIFA 20 apart from its competitor. It’s been said by many die-hard football fans out there that these games should start to incorporate more elements from off the field, and it seems EA has actually listened.
A few more minor tweaks were listed in EA’s Pitch Notes column.
