A year ago, a new game based on The Lord of the Rings books was announced, titled The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum game sees players take on the role of the titular Gollum, a hobbit who was transformed by the one ring into the vile looking creature.
Judging by the recently released screenshots, it would be safe to say that player will see their fair share of stealth and platforming, especially since Gollum is a sneaky and quite nimble creature.
Narrative-wise, we know that the game takes place before Gollum meets Frodo.
One of the screenshots is also filled with quite a few spiders, which could suggest that we will be seeing Shelob making an appearance. Shelob also appeared in the Middle-Earth: Shadow of War game, which released in 2017.
The screenshots also suggest that there will be some sort of dialogue choice but how it will affect the narrative is still unknown.
Who would have thought that a few screenshots of the character and the environments would cause so much excitement?
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is being developed by Daedalic Entertainment and is due to release next year on the PC and next-gen consoles the PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
