Square Enix has announced that the cult classic Fear Effect, which originally released on the PlayStation, will be receiving a remake called Fear Effect Reinvented.
Fear Effect Reinvented is being developed by Sushee, the development company also responsible for the next game in the series, Fear Effect Sedna (a real-time tactics game), which is set for release in 2018. The remake will include many of the hallmarks of the original, such as fixed camera angles, but will have improved visuals and controls among other additional features.
This is all part of Square Enix’s Collective initiative, where the publisher works with indie developers and even gives them access to its large back catalogue of games. Fear Effect originally released on the PlayStation 1 and was one of the first games to use cel-shaded visuals.
