The term “problematic” gets thrown around a lot these days – but if there’s one individual that perfectly describes what a problematic person is, that would be DCEU’s The Flash actor, Ezra Miller. It seems like every other day there’s a new piece on what Miller is up to: from constant bar brawls to physical altercations with DC fans, Miller has done it all.
The Latest News

The most recent saga in Miller’s spiralling career has to do with the actor allegedly grooming – and then kidnapping – the young Native American activist Tokata Iron Eyes. Now, Ezra Miller is on the run from both authorities and fans, as “the Flash” has deleted his social media accounts.
Ezra Miller’s situation is just the latest in the series of misfortunes that the DC Extended Universe has faced in recent memory. Compared to Marvel, DC has experienced a ton of high-profile drama, including Amber Heard’s trial, a mess that has divided fans’ opinions on the future of the Aquaman series.
Now, Miller’s case should be enough for both Warner Bros. and DC to take a step back and reconsider what comes next for their superhero cinematic universe. While Ezra Miller’s Flash is not as pivotal for the series as, say, Chris Evans’ Captain America, the character is on the verge of starring in his first-ever live-action solo film – a movie that’s also supposed to be the point of origin of a whole new direction for the DCEU.
Still, it’s safe to say that all the recent controversies involving Miller have essentially ruined fans’ expectations in regards to the whole DC franchise. Seeing Miller playing Flash on the big screen will just be awkward, knowing all the drama surrounding the actor in real-life. It’s also worth noting that, at the moment, no one is quite sure how this whole situation is going to play out, which makes the future of The Flash look even murkier.
The Inevitable

It’s clear that DC has only one choice if they wish to salvage what little goodwill they have with fans before it’s too late: fire Ezra Miller. It sounds so obvious – and frankly, they probably already did – but getting rid of Miller won’t be as easy as it sounds. For starters, there’s a good chance that The Flash’s filming has already concluded, with all of Miller’s scenes deep in post-production.
You simply can’t get rid of such an expensive film like The Flash just like that: the movie is going to be released, even if the public can’t stand seeing Ezra Miller’s face. However, it’s safe to say that DC won’t be hiring the actor in any other DCEU movie down the line. Fortunately for fans, the plot of the upcoming Flash movie – with its Multiverses and alternate versions of well-established characters – would allow Warner Bros. to replace Miller in a way that would please fans of the series and makes sense in the DC universe.
In a perfect world, Ezra Miller would have been fired on the spot, and The Flash would have either been canned or undergone extensive reshoots, but it seems clear that that’s not the way how Warner Bros. operates. Miller needs to be blacklisted from Hollywood not only because of all the drama of these past months but also because it would send a clear message regarding the ethics of the entertainment business.
At a time when the online discourse seems consumed by conversations regarding whether or not someone deserves to be cancelled, Miller takes the cake for the shadiest behaviour we’ve seen in a while. The Flash might be the fastest man alive, but there’s no reason why we shouldn’t at least try to stop Ezra Miller.
We have a few ideas about which actors could replace Ezra Miller as The Flash in the DCEU.
