EA officially announced their next Star Wars title, Star Wars: Squadrons, a first-person starfighter dogfighting game.
Star Wars: Squadrons is being developed by Motive Montreal, the team behind Star Wars Battlefront II.
The game will see players taking control of a variety of Star Wars space ships, including the iconic X-Wing and TIE Fighters.
Although EA only showed off a cinematic trailer, they did mention that the game will include plenty of multiplayer modes – including a mode which sees you and your squadron tasked with taking down a capital ship.
As for single-player, the game will feature a campaign that is set after the Battle of Endor. Players will take control of a pilot in squadrons from both the New Republic and The Galactic Empire.
Of course, according to EA, you can expect a few cameos from your favourite Star Wars characters from the franchise.
Lately, thanks to the recent Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, EA has proven that with the right developer at the helm there is still a bright future for Star Wars games.
With the team behind Battlefront II heading up the development of Squadrons, it seems that EA has once again chosen the right team for the job.
Best of all, unlockables will be earned soley through gameplay.
Star Wars: Squadrons will be releasing on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on the 2nd of October 2020.
It hasn’t been confirmed yet whether the game will have next-gen versions. However, with the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 set to be released in the festive season, it might be safe to say that the game would feature on next-gen consoles.
