After the announcement of Star Wars: Squadrons, fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of some gameplay footage. Finally, during the EA Play Live, stream developer Motive Studios showed fans what they could expect from the highly anticipated next Star Wars game.
The Star Wars: Squadrons trailer mainly focused on revealing more about the game’s multiplayer mode, Fleet Battles.
This mode will consist of multi-stage battles with two teams consisting of 5 players duking it out in the centre of the map. Whichever team wins, the initial fight will then be tasked with destroying their opponents Capital Ships. Should they pull this off, the team has one more hurdle in their way to victory, the enemy’s Flagship which they now have to destroy.
The Star Wars: Squadrons trailer also showed off some of the various fighters players will be able to pilot.
EA revealed that there will be eight ships with four classes. This will give players the option to chooses the right fighter for the right situation.
Of course, the game will also include customisation, with players having access to various skins for their ships, options for their pilots and over 50 different components to add to their ships.
There was no word on whether the game will include some sort of microtransactions.
The trailer also mentioned the game’s single-player campaign that sees players taking on the roles of two different pilots, one from the New Republic and one from the Empire. Just how long the campaign will be is yet to be revealed.
