With the reveal of the next-generation of consoles now becoming more inevitable, it was only a matter of time before developers started to show off what their next-gen engines would be able to do. With this in mind, EA has released a new video showcasing its Frostbite engine’s next-gen hair physics.
The video showcases the power of EA’s Frostbite engine and gives us a glimpse of what we can expect to see when the next generation of consoles are released. The Frostbite engine is famous for its visual might and has been used for beautiful games such as Battlefield 5 and Star Wars Battlefront 2, although it has also been cited as being responsible for Anthem‘s technical issues.
Judging by the video, it seems as if the engine’s next-gen capabilities won’t disappoint. It’s all very impressive but it’s also important to note that, because all the specs for the next-gen consoles haven’t been officially announced, it’s difficult to say if the Frostbite engine would be able to pull these types of hair physics on the consoles.
The video serves to get us even more excited about what the future holds for gaming. Thanks to DICE and the Frostbite engine, it seems that we are a step closer to seeing photorealistic hair in games at least.
