E3 2019 is finally here and things are kicking off with the EA conference. Star Wars fans are especially excited regarding the upcoming announcements.
EA made quite a few other announcements, including the next FIFA game and a new character for APEX Legends. Of course, they also showed off some gameplay from the upcoming and highly anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Sadly, we were expecting a bit more from the publisher. The lack of announcements could be due to the current gen of consoles heading towards the end of their lifespan, which would make sense.
Here are some of the most exciting announcements and reveals made during the EA conference.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – Amazing Lightsaber combat
One of the most anticipated games from EA’s stable is the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. After losing some goodwill from Star Wars fans, thanks to some really bad decisions when it came to Star Wars Battlefront 2, fans were hoping that their latest game would make amends, and, judging from a 15-minute gameplay video of the new game, it seems that EA might just have managed to do this.
The gameplay video not only showed off some of the games Uncharted-esque moments but also introduced the games lightsaber combat mechanics, which seems a lot more involved than we first expected. There is loads of swinging lightsabers, dying Stormtroopers and some awesome Force powers. Basically, everything we could ask for in a new Star Wars game.
Oh, and did we mention that protagonist Cal Kestis has a cute little droid buddy?
FIFA 20 – Brand new modes
As was expected, EA also announced the next instalment of FIFA. FIFA 20 is set to release on the 27th of September and will include few brand new modes and mechanics.
One of the new modes announced is the Volta mode, which featured in a brand new trailer for the game. This mode brings street football back to the FIFA franchise. According to EA, Volta mode “takes football back to the streets with the authentic culture, creativity, and style of the small-sided game”.
APEX Legends – A brand New character and weapon
With APEX Legends becoming one of the most played games in such a short time, it would only make sense for EA to give some attention to Respawn’s Battle Royale game. Of course, EA did not disappoint as they not only announced a brand new character named Wattson, who uses a slew of innovative technologies to help out her teammates and wipe out her foes, but also revealed a brand new weapon called the L-Star during the EA Play 2019 E3 conference.
This new weapon is a fan favourite from Titanfall 2 and it’s great to see it making an appearance in APEX Legends. It’s a gun that functions similar to a heavy assault rifle and does quite a bit of damage.
EA also announced the game’s season 2, which will add a bunch of new skins and the above mentioned L-Star.
Battlefield V – New maps
During the EA Play 2019 E3 conference Battlefield V fans got a taste of one of the brand new maps that will be coming to the game called Marita. The map will be available in July and will take place in a Greek village.
DICE also has two more maps planned for release in August, both of these will place more emphasis on close-quarters combat.
Along with the reveal of the new maps, DICE also announced that new weapons and vehicles will form part of the planned new content.
