We’ve known for quite some time that developer Respawn Entertainment was working on a new Star Wars game, but now EA has finally revealed that the game will be releasing this year.
The new game being developed by Titanfall‘s Respawn Entertainment, called Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, has been revealed by EA’s Q3 financial report to be releasing in 2019. EA CEO Andrew Wilson even commented on the fact that he has actually had some hands-on time with the game, remarking on its exceptional level of polish.
“It’s very far along in development and having spent time with it recently myself, it plays spectacularly well. This game truly captures the fantasy of becoming a Jedi, and we will have a lot more to share soon.”
The development of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is being led by the former director of the God of War series and includes veterans from some of the industry’s biggest adventure games.
Not much is known about the game. What we do know is that it will be third-person single-player and will be considered canon of the Star Wars universe.
Of course, there is always the possibility that EA could push back the release date of the game to 2020.
EA currently needs all the goodwill they can get from the gaming community. Releasing a brand new, true to the franchise, Star Wars game this year, that isn’t marred by any microtransactions, would go a long way in achieving this.
Respawn Entertainment recently release their brand new free-to-play battle royale game, Apex Legends, which has so far seen positive feedback from the gaming community.
