Disney has just released the first absolutely gorgeous trailer for its new animated feature film, Raya And The Last Dragon.
If you liked Mulan, Moana and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then you’ll love this. It’s full of action, adventure and cute armadillos.
“My whole life, I trained to become a guardian of the Dragon Gem, but this world has changed,” Raya narrates in the trailer. “And its people are divided. Now, to restore peace, I must find the last dragon.”
The Southeast Asian-inspired Raya And The Last Dragon features the voice of Star Wars actor Kelly Marie Tran as Raya, a young warrior on a quest to restore peace in her land. As the synopsis reads:
Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well.
As you can see, the animation is beautiful and the world looks incredibly interesting. Don’t be surprised if there’s a sudden uptick in interest about armadillos.
It’s easy to see that this will be another big hit for the studio. It could easily be positioned as the next
Tangled, Frozen, Moana or Frozen II.
The supporting cast includes Awkwafina as Sisu, a water dragon who can transform into a human being and is the last of her kind.
Disney’s Raya And The Last Dragon is coming to theatres March 12, 2021.
