Since Disney acquired Marvel and Lucasfilm, both the Star Wars franchise and the MCU have expanded massively. Now, the House of Mouse is hoping to do it again with their upcoming streaming service launching in 2019. It seems that the company is looking at creating original Marvel and Star Wars shows of their own.
Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that there will be a brand new trilogy of Star Wars films, created by Rian Johnson, that won’t focus on the Skywalker family drama. Iger also went on to tease a live-action Star Wars TV show and an original Marvel show for 2019. He also mentioned that the pricing for Disney’s streaming service will be lower than that of Netflix.
Does this mean that Disney will be ending the Netflix agreement? How would this move impact Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and the other Defenders-related content? We don’t know. What we do know is that Disney’s streaming service is looking mighty promising.
