The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: Is Marvel Considering A Name Change?

While most of the entertainment industry is still on a pause due to the coronavirus pandemic, it hasn’t stopped fans from being excited about upcoming movies and TV shows. When news of a Disney+ The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series starring Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes broke last year, fans were super excited to see Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie bring their real-life chemistry to the small screen.

Fans of the duo will be delighted to know that production on season one is almost complete. And in even better news, Marvel is rumoured to be working on a second season – and a new title.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

News of the The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series getting a new name first broke on Murphy’s Law, a podcast hosted by Charles Murphy.

According to Murphy, renaming the show will be necessary after the season one finale which is said to leave main characters, Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson, in a very “different situation”.

Explaining further he said…

“Coming out of season one, Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson will have gone through something traumatic and be different. There was definitely a plan for a second season. If they do have a season two, it wouldn’t be called ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Season 2’. It would be a thematically related thing with a different name.”

While there’s no exact indication of what that means, it certainly won’t stop fans from speculating about it.

However, during a past convention appearance, Sebastian Stan was able to tell fans what to expect from season one of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, but he didn’t say that much…

“It’s going to be so cool and kind of crazy. All I can say is it’s just new and different from what you’ve seen so far. I mean, it will be totally in line with everything that has happened and what we’ve seen and so on. But these characters are getting such additional mileage in terms of learning about who they are now, what they feel, what they’re thinking, and there’s a lot of action, comedy, you know there’s going to be comedy. I feel like you’re going to be happy. I think you’re going to be very happy. And there’s some crazy stuff, like stuff you don’t see coming from anywhere.”

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will see Emily Van Camp returning as SHIELD agent Sharon Carter, as well as Daniel Bruhl as the villainous Baron Zemo. The series also marks the debut of John Walker/US Agent, played by Wyatt Russell.
